The Refuge at Drummond’s Point affords many opportunities for fishing, sailing, boating, hiking, bird watching, and all that this natural wildlife environment has to offer. The inter-coastal waterway, Atlantic Ocean, and over 14 miles of canoe and small boat trails can easily be accessed right from the property. The Yeopim River, part of the Albermarle Region Canoe and Small Boat Trails System of Perquimans County, bounds The Refuge at Drummond’s Point on one side. The trail is located on Yeopim River and several of its tributaries, including Burnt Mill, Bethel, Middleton, and Yeopim creeks. This system of trails offers an opportunity for a short afternoon trip or a longer outing lasting several days. A campground, located on Yeopim Creek, provides an opportunity for canoe camping. The Refuge at Drummond’s Point also lies in close proximity to 11 out of 12 of the refuge sites listed on the Charles Kuralt Trail, including the Edenton National Fish Hatchery.

Andron Properties, Inc. plans to take the 23.18 acres of waterfront wetland forest located on Drummond's Point and turn it into a quiet place to live where mankind can cohabitate with nature. Efforts will be made to create a sense of place that works within the natural systems and gives the feeling of living in a wildlife preserve. It is their desire that this development have minimal impact on the ecosystem in order to keep this haven as natural as economically possible while adding amenities such as a private community boat ramp, a 30 slip marina, a canoe and viewing platform, nature trails, gazebo, picnic and common garden area, and beach area.

The Refuge at Drummond’s Point will focus on preserving the environment while creating a master-planned community unlike any in this region. An article in Coastal Living Magazine, written by Kristen Payne, says that one of the most difficult challenges of building on the coast is not square footage or choosing an architectural style, but affordability. Coveted lots have premium price tag, so a little ingenuity can go a long way when you are in the planning stage; units need to be compact and affordable. You will not find condos or townhouses, but instead clustered single-family three bedroom/three bath maritime villas. Architectural guidelines will be in place so that every effort is made to assure that design of all structures will fit with the natural setting.

Individual lots will not be sold and Sound Home Builders, Inc. will be the only contractor building in the development. There will be set home sites and home plans, as well as formalized restrictive covenants with homeowners’ association fees charged to property owners. It  is estimated that the villas will be between 3,500 and 4,000 square feet and the prices will fall between $850,000 to $1,000,000. There will be a boat launch ramp and marina. Andron Properties will retain ownership of the marina with property owners paying a yearly slip fee for any continuous docking.
