At Sound Home Builders we know that careful planning up front answers all of those questions.  We have a system and we follow it. We set a schedule and we let that guide us.

Many people feel that they should know the exact cost of their home before they commit to a builder.  However, an honest builder can't give an exact price without a final design and all selections made. A general cost to build a custom home can be provided to potential clients based on heated square footage. The best thing to do before beginning the process of designing a custom home is to set a budget and define the things that are most important to have in the clients home.

Together with our clients, we build their house on paper before we ever break ground. This allows our client to select everything that is going into their home and to know the actual cost for those things before construction begins. The first step in the custom home building process is to have the clients lot surveyed and to do a site walk.  Next we work on the plans for the first floor before moving on to plans for the second floor. Once the floor plans are nearly complete the clients meet with vendors to begin making selections. These selections are then incorporated into the floor plans and work on elevations begins.

With the plans complete and all selections made we can accurately put together a cost for the home and provide our clients with a very detailed and comprehensive bid that lists exactly what is going into their home and the cost. At that time the client can make any adjustments they need to fit their budget.

Once this bid is agreed upon a contract is prepared and construction begins. Overall, our clients feel confident that they are being asked all the important questions up front, that we are respectful and mindful of their budget and that their personal style will be reflected in their home. The end result is always a high quality home, a project that is completed in a timely manner and very happy customers.
